Boston Blackie, “Hypnotic Murder,” originally broadcast August 6, 1945, is episode 31 of the Richard Kollmar-era detective series. Kollmar stars as Blackie, with Maurice Tarplin as Inspector Faraday and Lesley Woods as Mary.
When cigarette girl Joan Thompson is implicated in the murder of Henry Bradson, an apparent confession and a gun found in Blackie’s possession draw both Joan and Blackie under suspicion. Blackie and Mary trace the case from Joan’s home to the Boulevard Club, where a hypnotist’s nightclub act may hold an important clue.
