B.C. fire evacuations, Israel rejects Trump's Gaza plan, Training EV mechanics, and more

Dela

There is no relief in sight for firefighters in B.C.'s Okanagan Valley. A volatile, fast growing wildfire has devastated the community of Summerland, B.C. and the surrounding area. Fires have forced more than 20-thousand people across British Columbia to evacuate - prompting a province-wide state of emergency.

Also: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israeli forces will not pull out of Gaza until Hamas lays down its weapons - everything from heavy weaponry to small arms. His words are a rejection of a U.S. backed 15 point plan aimed at securing a lasting peace in the Palestinian territory.

And: Electric vehicle sales have been rising sharply in Canada. Data from Statistics Canada says more than 18,000 zero emission vehicles were sold in May -- a nearly 20 per cent increase from the year before. But all those vehicles require maintenance, and the demand for EVs is outpacing the training needed to repair them.

Plus: Pierre Poilievre criticizes U.S.-Canada trade negotiations, Germany's Rhine river drying up, cheap corn in Quebec, and more.
