Paramount Primal has officially secured the rights to transform Nick Cutter’s acclaimed horror novel, The Troop, into a feature film. The plot centers on a scout troop whose annual camping expedition descends into chaos after they encounter a disturbing intruder carrying a biological threat. To bring this visceral story to the screen, the studio has hired Chris Basler to write the script and partnered with Lyrical Media for production. This project is a key part of a new genre-focused slate from the studio, which also includes a reboot of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The original book, written by Craig Davidson under a pseudonym, is celebrated for its intense portrayal of survival and psychological breakdown among its young protagonists. This move highlights a growing industry trend of adapting award-winning horror literature for modern cinema audiences.
