Renowned filmmaker Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer for the project, which emerged after a competitive bidding process among multiple streaming platforms. This modern interpretation aims for a darker tone comparable to the show Wednesday, moving away from the more lighthearted nature of previous adaptations. The production involves a collaboration with Universal Studio Group, marking a significant partnership between the studio and Disney's streaming service. While the series is still in the early stages of creation, it draws upon a long history of the character spanning decades of comics, cartoons, and films. Writers Rob Letterman and Hilary Winston are spearheading the creative direction, with Letterman also expected to direct the pilot.
