Safwan ibn al-Mu’attal (ra): Slandered for Helping A Woman | The Firsts | Dr. Omar Suleiman

Dela

Safwan ibn al-Muattal (ra) was a Bedouin warrior from Banu Sulaym, trusted with the most exposed job in the army: staying behind everyone else to make sure no one got left in the desert. When he found the wife of the Prophet ﷺ alone and asleep, left behind by accident, he said exactly one sentence the entire journey back to Medina.

That silence should have protected him. Instead, it became the center of one of the most damaging rumors in early Islamic history, and he was never even asked to defend himself before it spread.

What the Prophet ﷺ said about him, and what he let Safwan (ra) do to the man who started the rumor, is not what you'd expect.

Discover the story of the companion history almost left out of his own scandal, the cost of being slandered while doing exactly the right thing, and what the Prophet ﷺ's response teaches about restoring a man's honor without ever needing him to ask for it.
