Are You Too Sensitive? | Khutbah by Dr. Omar Suleiman

Dela

We live in a culture where every slight can become a microaggression, every disagreement can feel like an attack, and “protect your peace” can sometimes mean cutting people out the moment they make us uncomfortable.

But what happens when we lose the ability to overlook?

The Prophet ﷺ described the believer as samhaa—someone who is gracious, easygoing, and willing to let things go. This doesn’t mean tolerating abuse, ignoring oppression, or refusing to set necessary boundaries. It means learning to distinguish between genuine harm and the ordinary friction of living with imperfect people.

In this khutbah, Dr. Omar Suleiman explores what Islam teaches us about sensitivity, boundaries, forgiveness, and the forgotten strength of overlooking—and asks us to consider whether we’ve made ourselves too quick to take offense, cut people off, and slow to forgive.
