Indian author Geetanjali Shree made history in 2022 when her novel Tomb of Sand (Ret Samadhi in Hindi), translated by Daisy Rockwell, became the first Hindi-language work to win the International Booker Prize. During her recent visit to Australia, she spoke about her distinctive storytelling style, the voices of non-human and inanimate characters in her writing, and the writers and art forms that inspire her creative approach.
