The wildfire situation around Clinton, B.C., remains volatile. Firefighters spent the night protecting the community as another day of active fire behaviour threatens to push the Big Bar Complex even further. As Taya Fast reports, officials say they aren’t expecting any meaningful rainfall to combat the wildfires. The smoke from Canadian wildfires is drifting south of the border and appears to be top of mind for the U.S. president. Donald Trump is again threatening tariffs, blaming Canada for not doing enough to prevent the wildfire smoke crossing the border. Jillian Piper has more on Trump’s latest threat, and concerns that federal government cuts are hurting its wildfire response. The federal government shut down plans to expand Bill Bishop Toronto City Airport on Friday, citing concerns about public space, housing, noise and environmental impacts. But as Lexy Benedict reports, the province isn’t giving up its push for larger flights just yet. Plus, Mosquito counts in Saskatchewan are way up this year, with numbers up year over year and beating the 10-year average. In Saskatoon traps, there was an average of 168 last week. That’s compared to five mosquitoes per trap last year at this time. Ashley Beherns has more.
