President Donald Trump downplayed concerns over conditions for sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, amid an uproar from service members' families as its deployment to the Middle East approaches nine months. Numerous relatives of the sailors and Marines aboard the aircraft carrier have voiced outrage at reports of food shortages, water contamination, moldy showers and long shifts in wartime aboard the vessel.

Also this weekend, Madison Square Garden Sports is proceeding with its plan to split the NBA's Knicks and the NHL's New York Rangers. The company has filed a public registration statement for the new Rangers company with the US Securities and Exchange Commission and expects the spinoff to be complete by the end of October.

On today’s show, Lisa Mateo, Joe Mathieu, and Carol Massar speak with:

- Natalie Oliverio, Navy Veteran & Military Journalist on what the soldiers and Marines aboard the USS Lincoln are experiencing.

- Denver Riggleman, Former US Representative (R-VA), on the war in Ukraine one year after the Trump-Putin Alaska summit.

- Randall Williams, Bloomberg News, Senior Sports Reporter, on the billionaire rush into sports amid the Lakers deal and possible Rangers spinoff.

Plus, Joe, Carol, and Lisa discuss the stories you might have missed this week on BTW.
