Escape, “A Tooth for Paul Revere,” originally broadcast July 4, 1948, is episode 45. This Fourth of July historical fantasy adapts Stephen Vincent Benét’s 1937 short story, with a radio adaptation by John Dunkel and direction by Norman Macdonnell.

Massachusetts farmer Lige Butterwick has one pressing concern: a miserable toothache. Sent toward colonial Boston to seek the help of silversmith Paul Revere, Lige’s practical mission leads through the tense, colorful world of the American Revolution. Harry Bartell stars as Lige, with Parley Baer as Revere and Berry Kroeger in multiple roles.

Old Time Horror Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
