The Democratic Socialists of America are gaining members, winning Democratic primaries, and pushing for policies that once seemed far outside the political mainstream. So why are voters turning to them now?
Jorge and Paola sit down with DSA national co-chairs Megan Romer and Ashik Siddique to talk about what’s behind the political rise of democratic socialists at a time when many Americans are frustrated with the cost of living and ongoing wars, why the word “socialism” may carry a very different meaning for younger voters, and their stance on Cuba’s regime. They also discuss the pushback that the DSA has encountered, not only from Republicans but also from within the Democratic coalition itself.
