Last fall, an article in The Cut entitled “The Women Quietly Quitting Their Husbands” went viral, putting words to something many women around the country have been quietly experiencing. The article focused on the phenomena of women in their 40’s who have emotionally detached from their marriages but have chosen to stay rather than go through the drama, expense and ordeal of a divorce. In this episode Oprah sits down with Monica Corcoran Harel the journalist who wrote the article, Nedra Glover Tawwab author of The Balancing Act and Julie Menanno author of Secure Love to discuss why many women are choosing to stay in their marriages despite being unhappy or unfulfilled. We also hear from several women who say they have “quietly quit” their marriages and want to know how to navigate their relationships despite feeling disconnected from their husbands.
