Most states accepted Meta’s roughly $17 billion deal over youth mental-health harms on Facebook and Instagram. It includes default two-hour daily limits for teens, nighttime blocks, and other parental-control style changes. Florida’s Attorney General rejected it as “peanuts” and a slap on the wrist for a trillion-dollar company.
AG James Uthmeier is taking Meta to trial instead of settling. Bannon praises the “Free State of Florida” for refusing to let the company buy its way out after years of alleged knowing harm.
The deal focuses on time limits and parent tools rather than the algorithms themselves. Bannon and guest Sean Davis argue it sidesteps the documented destruction of families, rising teen suicide, depression, and antisocial behavior that testimony would have exposed.
Zuckerberg was expected to face questioning. Bannon calls Meta a “criminal apparatus,” says the evidence would have been brutal, and argues only a jury and possible criminal charges will force real change after years of alleged deception.
Should Florida force Meta in front of a jury, or was the multi-state settlement the best available outcome?
