Deep in the Wayanad district of Kerala stands a massive banyan tree wrapped in heavy iron chains. According to local legend, the spirit of the tribal guide Karinthandan haunted the mountain pass after he was betrayed and murdered, until a local priest chained his restless ghost to the tree. Today, visitors still leave offerings, report strange experiences, and wonder whether the spirit ever truly found peace.
