The Chicago White Sox renewed their crosstown rivalry with the Chicago Cubs on Monday night. The Sox quickly fell behind 2-0 after the Cubs first two hitters, Pete Crow-Armstrong and Seiya Suzuki, homered in the 1st inning. Randal Grichuk gave the Sox the lead with one swing of the bat in the 4th inning, hitting a 3-run homer off of Shota Imanaga. In the 5th inning, the Sox shot themselves in the foot after a Miguel Vargas error led to 2 runs scoring for the Cubs to surrender the lead. But in the 8th inning, pinch hitter Andrew Benintendi launched the first pitch he saw into the bleachers for a go-ahead 2-run homer. In the 9th inning, Jordan Hicks walked 2 batters before Nico Hoerner lined a game-tying single into center. It went to extras where Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a walk-off home run to win it for the Cubs.
