Insulin has two distinct effects on lipid metabolism: 1. Decrease triacylglycerol lipolysis by inhibiting Hormone-Sensitive Lipase and 2. Upregulating Lipoprotein Lipase in the endothelium, thus potententiating fatty acid uptake from circulating chylomicrons.
