Deshaun Watson will start the first preseason game; does he have the inside track to win the job?

Browns head coach Todd Monken has chosen Deshaun Watson as his starter for the preseason opener in Chicago. Watson is expected to play the entire first half and Shedeur Sanders will play the third quarter.

Sanders will start next Saturday against the Bills at Huntington Bank Field.

Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe reacted to Monken’s decision on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast and tried to decipher if it could mean that Watson has the edge in the quarterback competition.

If he does, why could this be an indicator? Could Monken pivot if Watson plays well on Saturday and just name him the starter at some point next week?
