Latest data from MBIE shows total energy supply decreased last year, while renewable energy generation increased. Coal consumption dropped to a new record low, and natural gas consumption fell to its lowest level since 2008. Energy security expert David Keat told Mike Hosking solar farms are relatively cheap.
