An Auckland councillor's questioning why the Government needs another investigation to rule out the mayor's preferred crossing - again.

Cabinet's agreed a Crown-led case into the pros and cons of a bridge or tunnel, as another crossing of the Waitemata Harbour.

The one-million-dollar bill to investigate if Meola Reef in Point Chev is the right spot, will be split between Auckland ratepayers and the country's taxpayers. 

North Shore councillor Richard Hills told Ryan Bridge the Government admits it's already ruled this idea out before, so why can't it just share that information.

He doesn't think it'll work, because it would involve building motorways through suburbs.
